The Kentucky State Association Horizon Plan With Strategies

1. Membership Development and Retention
Plan diverse programs at meetings that will appeal to a majority of the state members.
Continue State Membership publications.
Compile list of claims associations and sponsors within the state of Kentucky for possible partnership with KSAIW.
Do diligent follow up with these contacts.
Promote retention by encouraging each local association to continue building upon existing relationships within the state associations’ members through fellowship and networking.
2. Education
Publish educational articles in the state newsletter.
Diligently educate current members regarding existing resources available within NAIW.
Utilize KSAIW and NAIW websites with respects to educational resources available to members.
Encourage attainment of CPIW/CPIM and DAE designations among members.
3. Leadership Development
Encourage seasoned members to run for state office. Those who have already served should share their experience with newer members who show signs of wanting to move up the ladder of leadership within the state association.
Encourage use of the “Mentor’s and Protégé” Program from NAIW.
Continue to promote the “Communicate with Confidence” Program.
4. Strategic Partnering
Encourage members to be involved in NAIW’s “Partners in Literacy” program.
Contact the associations and sponsors listed in the Membership Development and Retention section (1) to see if we would benefit from a mutual relationship.
5. Technology
Establish and maintain a website for the state with information about each of the individual state associations.
Use the technological resources available to maintain contact with our members, potential members and corporate partners and sponsors.

Short term goals:
Make a master contact list.
Research NAIW educational programs and get the word to the members of the state association to take advantage of these programs.
Organize methods to increase membership.
Offer continuing education at state meetings which are recognized by the Kentucky Department of Insurance.
Long term goals:
Work on establishing a website.
Continue to prospect for new corporate partners.
Establish Programs that will be recognized by the community (Partners in Literacy) etc.
